Artist's Description
A purple Iris stands in front of a dreamy landscape of swirling colors. This watercolor was painted with a limited palette of three colors: red, blue and yellow. Transparent layers of these three primaries created the hues of purple, violet, green and orange. My goal with this floral watercolor is to evoke the feeling of being in a beautiful spring garden. I strive to create a fine art painting that has natural realism in the foreground against a more modern abstract background.
About Victoria Lisi
According to my Mother I started drawing before I started walking or talking. I never stopped. I spent a number of years as an illustrator doing over a hundred book and magazine covers and illustrating half a dozen children's picture books. Under the name Victoria Poyser I won two fan (amateur) art Hugos in the field of Science Fiction art. Some of my illustrations and fine art pieces were done in collaboration with my husband and fellow artist Julius Lisi. The works here on FAA are all my own work. I teach drawing, painting, watercolor and figure drawing at Aims Community College in Loveland, Colorado. I taught illustration at Western Connecticut State University for six years. It's hard for me to decide what I love...

I am so excited to have found your site! I just purchased "Iris Dreaming" on canvas for my mother. Victoria Lisi was my Nana's maiden name. What a beautiful name! I named my daughter Lisi Maye (Maye was my father's grandparents' last name). I see that you do children's portraiture, and I am wondering if you do any commission work. If so, can you work from a photograph? It would be pretty amazing to have a painting of Lisi Maye done by an artist with her great-grandmother's name.
